After a meeting of the American Rivers Conference Presidents Council, the conference, including Central and Simpson College, has cancelled all spring competition effective today. According to a statement from conference officials, the decision was based on advice received from state, federal, and other public health authorities that puts a priority on the health and well-being of the campus communities. Simpson College Athletic Director Bob Nutgrass said in a statement:

“Simpson College Athletics is dedicated to our athletes safety and is working with individual teams on arrangements to return to campus. We will continue to update the campus community on developments as they unfold.”

The cancellation includes all spring regular season competition, championships, and awards, and American Rivers Conference officials will await a decision from the NCAA regarding lost eligibility for all student-athletes affected by the nation-wide health pandemic.
