Beginning Tuesday, March 17, at 6:30 am, all patients and visitors entering the main Knoxville Hospital & Clinics (KHC) campus and the Pleasantville Clinic will be screened for illness symptoms.

The hospital understands these screenings may be an inconvenience, but it is an important step in our dedication to protecting the health of our patients, families, and community due to the recent cases of COVID-19 in Iowa.

If you have more acute respiratory symptoms that include fever, cough, shortness of breath, and have recently traveled to affected areas, please call (641) 842-2151 for further instructions before coming to the hospital.

With recent cases of COVID-19 in Iowa, we are asking that all patients and visitors enter through the main hospital entrance, Monday-Friday, 7:30 am – 7 pm and Saturday, 8 am – 2 pm. Please use the ER entrance for emergencies only and after hours.

If you have the following symptoms, we encourage you to schedule a mobile express care visit for a virtual appointment found on the homepage of our website – www.knoxvillehospital.org or call (641) 842-7211 to schedule an appointment with your provider. Hours for mobile express care visits are Monday-Friday, 7:30 am – 7 pm and Saturday, 8 am – 2 pm.
· Cold and flu
· Fever
· Cough
· Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea
KHC is also temporarily suspending clinical operations at the Red Rock Healthcare – Pella Clinic to reallocate resources and staffing needs. Patients of that clinic will be able to see a provider at our Knoxville Clinic during this time. Patients can call the Knoxville Clinic at (641) 842-7211 to schedule appointments.
Visitor restrictions: The following visitor restrictions are temporary and subject to change as necessary:

At this time, visitors are restricted to one adult primary caregiver.
Primary caregivers must:
Wash hands with soap and water or use alcohol-based hand gel upon entering and exiting the patient’s room
Always remain in the patient room, as appropriate
Limit movement within the facility and avoid common areas
Be free from illness (fever, sore throat, cough, diarrhea, vomiting or running nose)

Visitors must stop at the department desk to receive a visitor pass before proceeding to the patient’s room.

All caregivers are required to wash hands with soap and water or use alcohol-based gel upon entering and exiting a patient’s room.

We understand these visitor restrictions may be difficult for you. While we are committed to providing a family-centered care environment, right now restricting visitors is in the best interest of our patients, staff, and community.

KHC continues to encourage the public to follow prevention measures that are the same for other respiratory illnesses:
Cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue or your upper arm/elbow
Clean your hands frequently with soap and water
Contain germs by staying home when ill
The CDC does not recommend face masks for the general public
