The PCM boys basketball team experienced a fair amount of quality wins and tough losses over the course of the past season. After losing some of their top talent from the previous season, it caused for some shuffling to be done among those returning. Head Coach Fred Lorensen says that despite only finishing a game above .500 for the season, he was proud of his team for continuing to grow throughout the year.

“We had a bunch of new kids coming in. Even the ones that played had totally different roles now. Jason Stafford moved to point guard, Derek Brown was getting full time duty, just a lot of different things there. We were 11-5, I was just really pleased with where we were there. Even though the last losses were really frustrating, it wasn’t because the teams were just better than us, we were competitive with them. Before our season started, I looked at our schedule, just wondering where some of these wins might come from. And to win 12 games and have a chance to win three or four others, I think that was a pretty good effort by our kids.”

The Mustangs finished 12-11 overall and 7-7 in the Heart of Iowa Conference.
