Pella’s favorite flowers will soon be in bloom as spring quickly approaches. Executive Director of Pella Historical Society and Museums Valerie Van Kooten says more than 300,000 bulbs were planted this fall between the City of Pella, Pella Historical Society, and other local organizations. Van Kooten says while some tulips are starting to peek out of the ground, especially the early bloom varieties, many flowers remain underground and could be slowed by what appears to be a largely cooler, wetter trend in the upcoming weather forecast.
