Indianola Mayor Kelly Shaw issued an emergency declaration for the City of Indianola for the next 30 days Wednesday afternoon. The proclamation echoes the declaration from Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds, and directs the Police Department of the City of Indianola to take whatever steps necessary to protect life and property, public infrastructure, and provide emergency assistance, while also adopting the current city practices of closing city buildings and keeping city services available by phone. Further, consistent with the recommendations of the IDPH, the Center for Disease Control, and Governor Reynolds’ Proclamation of Disaster Emergency issued on March 17, 2020, all social, community, spiritual, religious, recreational, leisure, and sporting gatherings and events of more than 10 people at all locations and venues, including but not limited to parades, festivals, conventions, and fundraisers shall be prohibited within the City of Indianola. According to the proclamation, the restrictions that have been implemented over the last several days will be terminated (unless reduced or extended) on April 16, 2020 at 11:59 pm.
