With the restrictions throughout the country being put in place to help slow the spread of COVID-19, local funeral homes are doing their part to limit the amount of people attending funerals in response to the CDC’s guidelines. The funeral homes of Winfield Funeral Home, Bybee & Davis Funeral Home, Mason Funeral Home, Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home and Williams Funeral Home recently released a joint statement on the recommendations they will follow for funeral services. According to the statement, funeral attendance will be permitted to family members only with no more than 50 people allowed. They prefer funerals be held at the funeral home in order to limit exposure to volunteers, and funeral luncheons will not be held. Visitations will be a public event, but the family will not be present to greet visitors. Signs will be posted asking attendees to limit interactions and no physical contact. The funeral homes will continue to monitor the situation and work to keep staff and families safe while providing services to the local communities.
