The Marion County Board of Supervisors held a press conference Wednesday to update the residents of Marion County on the current COVID-19 situation as well as inform the public on precautions being taken to help limit the spread of the disease and keep people safe. Supervisor Mark Raymie spoke to the public about how important the situation is. Raymie says as Americans we need to stop the spread. Raymie says the county made a disaster declaration Wednesday to put the county in line for state and federal aid, similar to when a flood or severe storm causes major damage. He says the disaster declaration does not mean there is a confirmed case of COVID-19 in the county. Raymie also reiterated that Marion County has taken precautionary measures such as self quarantining for 14 days for any Marion County employee who travels out of state.

The press conference also included county staff, local community leaders, medical professionals and first responders, all speaking about how they have prepared for when COVID-19 arrives in the county and what people can do now to protect themselves. According to Supervisor Mark Raymie, Marion County will continue to hold informative press conferences  Monday and Friday for the foreseeable future at 1 p.m. to update the public and keep residents informed in a timely manner. Each informative press conference will be aired live on 92.1 KRLS and 95.3 KNIA.
