A multiple time state qualifying sprinter for Pella Christian high school intends to continue her track and field career in college.

Erica Nikkel is a multiple-event state qualifier and top eight medalist three years running with the Eagles, having competed at the famous Blue Oval at Drake Stadium in 2017, 2018, and 2019. She’ll take that elite speed to Dordt University, where she plans to embrace a great challenge not only on the track, but in academics.

Nikkel would join former Eagles Brett Roose, Grant Dunsbergen, and Mary Kate Bandstra in the program. Nikkel, as many Iowa High School Athletes are currently doing, anxiously awaits when or if the 2020 season starts with the hopes of qualifying for the state meet in a fourth consecutive season.
