The Marion County Board of Supervisors and local community leaders including Pella Mayor Don DeWaard, Knoxville Schools Superintendent Cassi Pearson, Pella Schools Superintendent Greg Ebeling, and Pleasantville Police Chief and City Manager Joe Mrstik as well as medical professionals and first responders held a press conference Friday updating the residents of Marion County on the current COVID-19 situation. Supervisor Mark Raymie started the press conference by thanking the residents of Marion County for all they are doing to help during the COVID-19 pandemic. Director of the Marion County Conservation Department Steve Edwards took time to inform the public that, as of today all Marion County Conservation Parks are closed to the public through Friday, April 17th. Edwards says what locations are now off limits. Parks closed include Marion County Park, Roberts Creek Park and Cordova Park. Facilities closed include all campgrounds, shelter houses, picnic areas, game courts, baseball and softball fields, playgrounds, as well as the observation tower and pavilion at Cordova Park and the Historical Village at Marion County Park. According to Marion County officials, there is still no confirmed case of COVID-19 in Marion County. Marion County will continue to hold informative press conferences Monday and Friday for the foreseeable future with the next scheduled for Monday, March 23rd at 1 p.m. Each press conference will be aired live on 92.1 KRLS and 95.3 KNIA and reaird at 6 p.m.
