After a two year hiatus, John Suntken is back in coaching. The last time Suntken patrolled the sidelines was when he was the girls basketball coach at Melcher-Dallas. Now back as the boys track and field coach, Suntken was looking forward to getting back at it and helping the Saints this spring. But like every other high school, and track and field program in the state, nothing is happening right now due to the shut down caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Suntken tells KNIA Sports right now it is not fun waiting around.

Suntken:
“It hasn’t’ been very fun and they’ve been looking forward to this year and have been working extremely hard the week we were together. It’s just disappointing, and we’re all in the same boat and hopefully it all passes sooner rather than later.”

Suntken feels especially bad for his senior this season, because this is their last chance for many of them to make a run to the state meet.
