Several local basketball players were recognized among the best in Iowa.

Knoxville’s Kieren Nichols was named first team All-State in Class 3A from the Iowa Print Sports Writers Association. Nichols finished 3rd in class 3A with 25.9 points per game for the Panthers.

Pella’s Logan Shetterly earned 2nd team All-State honors. Shetterly is a two-time All-State basketball honoree, earning 3rd team All-State recognition in his junior season. Logan was also a 2nd team All-State wide receiver this past fall for the Pella football team, and intends to continue his athletic career at Central College this fall with the Dutch football program.

A pair of Pella Christian Eagles made the Class 2A All-State boys basketball team this season. Seniors Dan Jungling and Josh Van Gorp both earned 3rd team honors. Jungling, despite his basketball success, is pursuing football when he heads to Dordt University this fall, joining fellow multiple All-State football and basketball athlete and older brother Levi, as well as several former Eagles and Dutch. Dan was also a 3rd team All-State Football player this past fall.
