While there is no official practice and the schools closed, with members of the community encouraged to practice social distancing, athletics is out of focus right now for many. For some Indianola girls track and field athletes, individual training is still a habit as there is a hope that at some point there may be some competition. Head coach Kim Arndt tells KNIA Sports she isn’t in communication with the athletes, but is seeing some of them take it upon themselves to stay in shape.
“I’ve seen them do some stuff on their own with the hopes that we can get something in. But if I was to put something out there for them to do they might gather and that is not a good thing, so it’s very touchy and uncharted territory right now.”
Arndt also said she knows the district is making the correct choice in canceling school and suspending activities, but that doesn’t make it any less frustrating.
