As families in Marion County and across the country cope with the reality and struggles of social distancing due to the COVID-19 pandemic, residents have come up with a way to help families keep busy and get out of the house while still staying safe. Residents throughout Marion County and the country have been participating in a “Bear Hunt,” which stems from the childrens book  “We’re Going on a Bear Hunt,” by Michael Rosen and Helen Oxenbury. The story takes a family on an adventure through wilderness and into a bear cave to find a bear. In Marion County, residents have set up bears and other stuffed animals in windows, on front porches and other locations for families to drive by and find as they participate in their own bear hunt. The game does not involve any social interaction other than with your own family so it provides safe family fun during the COVID-19 pandemic. A google map has been set up to track bear locations for families to find as well as add their own to keep the game going. To view the map and to add your own bear location click here:
