The Pleasantville Girls Track and Field team is waiting to gear up for a promising season. A plethora of talent is back from last year’s team, and they have developed significantly over the offseason. Head Coach Aaron Fichter says he’s seen many of his athletes step up and put the team goals ahead of their personal desires.

“We have a lot of balance, we have some kids want to step up in the field events. There’s just a lot of things that we have pieces for. Kids want to help in a lot of areas. And now it’s a thing where they’re thinking of ‘How can we as competitive as possible at a meet?’ And not just ‘I always run the 100’ or ‘I always run the 200.’ We have a lot of kids wanting to help just score points, and I think that’s going to be a big shift in their minds. And also it’s a thing where, if we can be more competitive in meets like we were last year, it just kind of helps motivation overall. There’s a lot of kids we could talk about that we’re really excited about. We just are hopeful that we get an opportunity to run this year.”

Pleasantville’s first scheduled meet after the tentative resumption of school and sports is April 14th at Pella Christian.
