With the cancellation of the spring sports season at the college level, as well as nearly every institution transitioning to online instruction, the lives of students are being significantly altered. For student-athletes, losing their seasons has been nothing short of devastating. Central Athletic Director Eric Van Kley says the main focus for coaches and staff is to be as positive as possible about the situation, and stay in touch with the students during this tough time.
“Each person’s situation on how it hits them or what things are affected is challenging. For those young people to have their national championships and dreams taken away was very challenging, along with the spring sports. We’re just all working through it together and trying to be positive, and continue to communicate with them well and regularly check in on them on how they’re feeling with everything.”
