Today, the National Weather Service is focusing on tornadoes as part of Iowa Severe Weather Awareness Week. Several damaging tornadoes have hit the region over the past several years, including 12 rated storms since the 2017 season. Pella Police Department Communications Supervisor Marcia Slycord says they have an outdoor warning system, mainly aimed to warn anyone outside of incoming tornadoes in the county.
The KNIA/KRLS Severe Weather Action Team is on the air with live coverage for any severe thunderstorm or tornado warning for any portion of Marion and Warren Counties.
