Today’s focus from the National Weather Service for Iowa Severe Weather Awareness week is family preparedness. Marion County Emergency Manager Jeff Anderson says spring is a good time to review safety plans for when tornado and severe thunderstorm warnings are issued, and to practice that plan when given the opportunity. Anderson says Marion County has several resources for residents to utilize, including text message alerts for any severe weather warning impacting the area. Additionally, Anderson encourages all to listen to KNIA/KRLS when any severe thunderstorm or tornado warning is issued for live updates of ongoing storms. Severe Weather Awareness Week wraps up on Friday with details about flash flooding.
