The Central men’s basketball team did not have the kind of season it hoped for or expected. Four of the five wins came before the calendar flipped to January. The Dutch were without one of their star players for most of the season, as senior Jaden Moody went down with an ankle injury on December 4th against Wartburg. The Cambridge native averaged 16 points per game this season, and proved to be a big spark when he returned February 5th against Dubuque, and he helped lead Central to a resilient Senior Day victory against Simpson. Head Coach Craig Douma says that while he believes the season would have gone much better with Moody available, he has left a positive mark on the program.

“He had a tremendous career here. He would’ve been an all-conference guy, we would’ve had a much different season if he was healthy. But he still left a mark on this program that will never be forgotten. The thing I’m most proud of is the kind of young man he is off the floor now. His leadership role, the kind of person he is.”

While Moody’s contributions will be missed, his absence over the past season has provided ample opportunities for the younger players on the roster to grow. Moody was the only senior on this year’s team.
