Thursday afternoon soldiers with the Iowa National Guard’s 1133rd Transportation Company out of Mason City made a special delivery to Marion County to deliver supplies to first responders in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. EMS Local Service Area Coordinator with Marion County Public Health, Teri Van Kooten tells KNIA/KRLS News 3M in Knoxville graciously donated equipment that will be used to help first responders test that their own personal protective equipment fits properly and can protect them when the time comes.
The National Guard Soldiers have been delivering supplies and personal protective equipment throughout the state in support of the Iowa Department of Public Health;s fight against COVID-19. The equipment received by Marion County first responders will be used to enhance the first responders ability to respond to potential COVID-19 patients. Coordinated by Marion County Emergency Management Coordinator Jeff Anderson, the equipment will be distributed by Marion County Public Health to first responders in all townships in the county, and to both Pella Regional and Knoxville Hospital and Clinics. More shipments will be coming as available and as needed.
