The next step of the E Iowa Ave paving project, which will provide a paved road and better access to the industrial park area and allow the Missouri Valley Line Constructors Apprenticeship and Training Program to consolidate their facilities around the country in Indianola, was approved by the Indianola City Council Wednesday. City Manager Ryan Waller tells KNIA News city staff sought out a grant for the project, which will grow the economy for the area.
“The city applied for and received a $627,000 grant that will pay for half the project, and will help the Missouri Valley Line project move forward, which will be a big boost to our local economic development having them here. So the council approved the next step of the project so we are now to the point where we can get bid documents out to get the road paved.”
Waller also said the project is moving forward as scheduled despite city facilities being closed down. Construction is expected to begin this summer.
