The Marion County Board of Supervisors and local community leaders including Pella Regional Health Center CEO Bob Kroese, Knoxville Hospital and Clinics CEO Kevin Kincaid, Marion County Treasurer Michaela Bigaouette, Lt. Justin Kingery with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Safety Manager at Weiler Joel Weiler, South Central Iowa Solid Waste Agency Director Rick Hurt, Pella Mayor Don DeWaard, and New Journey Church Pastor Dave Woodcock held a press conference Friday updating the residents of Marion County on the current COVID-19 situation. Each individual gave updates on how the COVID-19 pandemic was affecting their department as well as what they were doing to keep people safe. Safety Manager at Weiler Joel Weiler told residents what priorities Weiler is using to make decisions during the pandemic. Their first priority according to Weiler is the safety of their employees followed by the needs of their customers and followed by the health of the business. Supervisor Mark Raymie also read an update from Vermeer regarding the current situation as well. The update states that Vermeer wants everyone to know they are following CDC and other government guidelines wherever possible; their goal is to keep team members healthy and safe while maintaining productivity to meet their customer’s needs. They have been taking different measures to ensure this happens. 

According to Marion County officials, there is still no confirmed case of COVID-19 in Marion County. Marion County will continue to hold informative press conferences Mondays and Fridays for the foreseeable future with the next scheduled for Monday, March 30th at 1 p.m. Each press conference will be aired live on 92.1 KRLS and 95.3 KNIA and reaired at 6 p.m.
