The Knoxville Boys Soccer Squad had a dream season last year, making its second state tournament appearance in program history. This spring the Panthers were poised to make another run at the class 2A elite eight, but with the shut down of high school sports due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 season right now is on hold. Coach Dylan Mick tells KRLS Sports that is the frustrating thing, they were going through offseason workouts and were ready to get the preseason practices started, and just that quick, they had to stop.
Mick:
“We played in a couple of indoor tournaments in the winters, and I was getting a lot of texts from the guys, we had our parent meeting, and had started selling T-shirts, and it’s tough to tell the guys after all that, we have to press pause.”
Knoxville returns a large group from last season’s squad back. While several Panthers will need to step into new starting roles, Mick is confident they have the experience because the Panthers were so deep last year.
