Due to the COVID-19 pandemic most courthouse offices have been closed to the public as courthouse staff tries to help slow the spread of the disease. Due to the closure, certain timely services have been suspended until those services can be provided in person. Marion County Treasurer Michaela Bigaouette tells KNIA/KRLS News some of the service her department provides that residents don’t need to worry about. Bigaouette says expiration dates for drivers licenses, CDL’s, CDL permits, and medical certifications have all been suspended until further notice. She says vehicle registrations that were due for January or after are also currently suspended. Bigouette would like to remind residents that they are still able to pay their taxes and registrations online, through the mail or through the dropbox at the courthouse. She says instructions on how to pay taxes and registrations are also online and on the county’s Facebook page. According to Bigaouette, anyone who has any questions regarding any services provided by the Treasurer’s Office can call the staff during regular business hours as staff members are continuing to work despite the closure.
