As another week begins with Knoxville residents staying home and practicing social distancing due to COVID-19, the city of Knoxville isn’t worried yet when it comes to the potential financial impact social distancing could have on the city. Knoxville City Manager Aaron Adams tells KNIA/KRLS News the city is in a good financial position right now and should be able to maintain that position for another few months if needed. Adams says budgets all over the country will feel an impact due to the pandemic but he says as of right now, no one knows how long this will last so it’s hard to determine how much of an impact it could have. Adams says if the COVID-19 pandemic continues to affect life six to nine months from now, that is when the city’s budget could be impacted and at that time the city could potentially face tough decisions. To hear the complete interview with Adams, tune in to today’s Let’s Talk Knoxville.
