With the high school football schedules being released last week, Pleasantville has learned who they will face in the non-district slate. The Trojans will face two familiar foes to open the season, opening at home against Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont before traveling to Lynnville-Sully. Pleasantville then returns home for a first-ever matchup with Class 1A runner-up Van Meter. The non-district portion wraps up Week 4 at Chariton. Head Coach Mack Jorth says he’s excited for the opportunity to face a very challenging slate of games early on.
“I think it’s a pretty darn good one. Van Meter and Chariton being good for different reasons. I think EBF and Lynnville-Sully are both going to be much-improved this year, they’ve got a bunch of guys coming back and they’re good football programs year in and year out. I think it’s a very challenging schedule and it’ll be a good opportunity for us to see where we’re at as a program; are we going to be able to handle basically nine weeks of pretty competitive football.”
The Trojans had a successful non-district slate last season at 3-1, and will look to get off to a hot start again this season. Week 1 at home against Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont is scheduled for August 28th.
