With Easter Sunday to be celebrated this weekend, residents in Knoxville are coming up with new ways to celebrate despite the social distancing guidelines. Each spring the Knoxville Noon Kiwanis holds a community Easter Egg Hunt on the corner of Lincoln and Madison Street in Knoxville. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic this year’s Easter Egg Hunt will not be able to be held. Instead, the Knoxville Noon Kiwanis will host an Easter Egg Event tomorrow from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm. that will take place at the same time and location as the Knoxville school lunch program pick-up.
The event is designed to give families the same amount of eggs and candy they would normally receive at the hunt with the hopes that families can hold their own personal hunt according to Curt Schwanebeck with the Noon Kiwanis. He says he would like to see all the pictures of families holding their own Easter egg hunt on social media to help give smiles and hope to the community. Schwanebeck says the hunt is still for families with children 12 years of age or younger but he understands if kids a little older want to have some fun too.
