At a time when their residents are living largely in isolation, the staff at Hearthstone has been trying to make the most of a difficult situation. Natasha Nikkel with Hearthstone, which operates Pella Manor, Fair Haven, Jefferson Place, and the Cottages, says they have tried to keep seniors engaged while trying to adhere to social distancing guidelines through unique activities. Nikkel says retirement communities present a population particularly at-risk for severe complications from COVID-19, and they are doing all they can to prevent the spread to vulnerable individuals, all while making sure they can have a certain quality of life.
