The Warren County Board of Supervisors approved the Warren County, Iowa Infectious Disease Action Plan COVID-19 Pandemic put forth by Warren County Emergency Management recently, protecting employees of the county who may not be deemed essential. The plan, which largely follows federal legislation, is that if there is a shelter in place order put in place employees will have 80 hours of full paid leave for both full-time and part-time employees. The board also agreed to an extension for county employees after the 80 hours is complete, employees will receive another 80 hours of full pay. Board Chair Aaron DeKock tells KNIA News the safety and security of the county and its employees is the board’s top priority.

“We’ve made as many changes as we possibly can to still provide services, albeit a little differently than before, to stay as safe as possible. We have closed the building and will continue to keep it closed at this point, and absolutely make sure our employees are taken care of because they are doing a phenomenal job in a really stressful time. So that is our focus.”
After those combined 160 hours are completed, employees who are at home not working will receive two-thirds pay for non-worked hours. No changes to pay will be made for employees who are essential or working from home.
