Even though students have been sent home for the remainder of the school year, a relatively new tradition on campus will continue – with a virtual twist.
The Dutchies, now in its fifth year, is an award program to honor the best of the best regarding Central’s student-athletes for the previous 12 months. The first four events took place live inside of Kuyper Gymnasium, with athletes and coaches dressing up for the occasion.
This year’s event will be an online webcast. KRLS’ own Trevor Castle, the Voice of the Dutch, is the emcee for the festivities, and started taping segments for the show earlier this week.
Dutchies are awarded for male and female athlete of the year, male and female freshman athlete of the year, record breaking performance, moment of the year, coaching staff, and team of the year. Several academic awards are presented as well.
The distribution platform for the event has not yet been released, but it will take place on Sunday night, April 26th.
