With the stoppage of spring sports at least until May first, many of the events the athletes are in, they cannot actually practice those events because they are barred from school facilities. Golf is one sport that does not take place on school property. Many of the members of the Knoxville Girls Golf Squad have taken advantage of Pine Knolls Country Club during the shut down to play a round or two. Coach Barry Smith tells KRLS Sports it gives the girls something to do and to get away for a couple of hours to work on their game and not have their minds on current issues.
Smith:
“Just the sunlight and being able to be outside for a bit. I know two or three of the girls have taken advantage of the chance to get out there and allow them to do something they’ve not been able to do.”
At this point, the first meet for the Panthers if they are allowed to continue their season would be the first competition day of May fourth against PCM followed the next week would be the conference meet at Honey Creek Resort near Moravia.
