The Indianola emergency responder departments have been notified by the Warren County Sheriff’s Office that two cases of the COVID-19 virus have been confirmed to be in Indianola. In addition to the two confirmed cases, an Indianola Public Safety Officer has shown symptoms of the virus and was tested, with two additional Public Safety Officers exposed to an individual showing more than one symptom of the virus. City Manager Ryan Waller tells KNIA News in both cases, extra precautions are being taken.

“The one public safety employee that was exhibiting symptoms themselves, anyone who had interaction is wearing a face mask and will have to do so for the 14 day period or until, hopefully not, symptoms are exhibited then they will be sent home. Decontamination procedures were enacted, employees and council were notified, and the proper follow-up occurred.”

Test results typically take 2-6 days to be processed. According to the latest report from the Iowa Department of Public Health, there are now 13 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Warren County. For more information, tune in to today’s Let’s Talk Indianola.
