An Indianola Public Safety Officer has tested positive for COVID-19, in addition to the two previously confirmed cases an Indianola. City Manager Ryan Waller tells KNIA News the city is taking all appropriate safety steps.

“The one public safety employee that was exhibiting symptoms themselves, anyone who had interaction is wearing a face mask and will have to do so for the 14 day period or until, hopefully not, symptoms are exhibited then they will be sent home. Decontamination procedures were enacted, employees and council were notified, and the proper follow-up occurred.”

Waller also said the employee does not live in Indianola, and will need to be symptom free for 72 hours before returning to work. According to the latest report from the Iowa Department of Public Health, there are now 16 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Warren County, and 1,587 overall.
