The Knoxville Boys Tennis Squad is under a new coach this season. Perry Bell takes over the reigns of the Panthers following the resignation of Greg Higginbotham after last season. Bell tells KRLS Sports knowing the players already helped make his transition to head coach easier than it would have if he was brand new to the program.

Bell:
“That’s partly why I took the job also was because I coached the kids when they were in middle school and the familiarity with their parents helped make the decision to step up to the play as well.”

Bell will not be without help this season as Kurt Wallace will serve as an assistant to both boys and girls squads and former coach Higginbotham will provide as much support as he can when needed. The Panthers’ season, as it stands, is scheduled to start May fourth, which is the first date of competition set forth by the Iowa High School Athletic Association. That is also subject to change with the new schedule guidelines put forth by the boys and girls unions.
