With the high school spring sports season on hold, student-athletes have been unable to receive formal instruction from their coaches. Many area golf courses remain open with social distancing guidelines in effect, giving golf teams an extra advantage that other high school sports do not have. PCM girls head coach Tony Ford says that many of his golfers have been out playing on area courses and staying ready to go for if and when the season starts.
“I haven’t had any formal communication. I know some of them are going out and playing with the social distancing rules in Monroe, and some of the others I haven’t had contact with, it’s kind of hit and miss as we go. I can’t really give any direction as far as making anyone do anything, but just letting everyone know we’re still having the green light, we don’t know when that is, but just be ready to go when the season starts.”
If the current schedule stands, the Mustangs would get their season underway on May 4th at Knoxville.
