Due to an increase in call volume and operating procedures from the COVID-19 pandemic, the Indianola emergency departments are discontinuing birthday drive-bys. Police Captain Brian Sher tells KNIA News the departments will honor those already scheduled, but the extra duties for the departments just don’t make the birthday drive-bys available. Sher also said as tashe outbreak continues towards peaking in Iowa, the efforts of the department are needed elsewhere.
