It seems that more and more Marion County athletes are starting to pick Central College to further their careers. Add another to that list as Knoxville’s Carter Bailey will trade in black and gold for red and white of Central College. Bailey will also play for the Dutch Football Program as well. Bailey tells KRLS Sports his desire to stay closer to home and feeling right at home with Central made his decision easier.
Bailey:
“I’ve always liked being close to home and Central’s coaching staff just persuaded me somehow and got along with them, and they were really nice and it was just easy with the committing.”
Bailey is a multi-sport standout for the Panthers rolling up 925 yards rushing on 11 touchdowns for the Panther football squad last fall as Knoxville went 6-3. Bailey also set the single game rushing record with 321 yards in a week nine victory over Newton. In baseball last summer Bailey hit 267 with 27 hits and 15 RBI, he also worked 37 2/3 innings on the mound with a 4.69 ERA with 53 strikeouts. Bailey adds he hopes he can play running back for the Dutch, something his older brother Connor did at Wartburg. You can hear the full interview with Bailey on this Monday’s Central College Radio Coaches Corner at 7:00pm and next Wednesday’s Radio Sports Page also at 6:00pm on 92.1 KRLS.
