In one of the most storied programs in state history, the Pella boys track and field team have seen some spectacular performances when it mattered most, to help the program score the most points of any boys program at state over the past ten years and win two team titles during that span.

As part of an effort to connect the past with the present and future, Pella Assistant Track and Field Coach Doug Cutler recently hopped on a video call with what he calls the Magnificent Seven — some of the best ever middle-distance and distance runners in program history.

Ryan Terlouw (’03), Zach Wittenberg (’10), Zach Buchheit (’12), Evan Jones (’13), Wade Pingel (’13), Jordan Pingel (’14) and Payson Vande Lune (’16) recently joined Cutler for an hour and a half video discussion about their moments of greatness with the green and white of Pella and where life has taken them since their success with the Pella Track and Field programs.

Cutler says as long as the school closures continue, he intends to catch up with similar groups of Pella girls track and field athletes and other reunions related to his duties as Pella Head Cross Country Coach. Find the full video discussion at KNIAKRLS.com.
