Those who call 911 are reminded that all area police, fire, and EMS are ready to respond — but they should be prepared to help keep first responders safe as well. Pella Police Department Communications Supervisor Marcia Slycord says anyone calling into their office for in-person service or an emergency will be asked if anyone in their household has been presenting with symptoms related to COVID-19. Slycord says they will still respond to any and all emergencies, but any details that could be provided to keep first responders safe is crucial to keeping services available. Slycord says Pella Police Department communications specialists will ask specific questions as police, fire, and ambulance personnel prepare to make their way to a situation.
