With everyday life disturbed throughout the country due to COVID-19, local service groups are finding new ways to continue to meet and help residents while continuing to practice social distancing. T. Waldmann-Williams with the Knoxville Rotary Club tells KNIA/KRLS News the Rotarians are continuing to give back to the community. She says right now the club is meeting virtually through Zoom. She says since right now the money that normally would be spent on lunch during regular meetings is not being spent, rotarians are donating that money to local food pantries to help feed people in need during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In addition to raising funds for local food pantries Waldmann-Williams says the club continues to provide books to local 2nd graders in four local school districts with books after the club received a grant from the Rotary Foundation to support its 2019-2020 Literacy Project. Waldmann-Williams says due to COVID-19 things have been obviously more difficult but she says the club continues to find new ways to continue to keep business as regular as possible.
