pleasantville-3

Earlier this week, the Pleasantville school board approved the hiring of Tom Wilkins as the head boys varsity basketball coach. Wilkins had previously served two stints in the role, from 2001-2003 and 2009-2015. A familiar voice on our Pleasantville basketball broadcasts, Wilkins said serving as a color commentator helped him regain his passion for the game and for coaching.

“About a year after I got out, you guys contacted me, wanted to know if I wanted to do some play-by-play on KNIA3, and that sounded kind of interesting. But what it kind of did, was get the competitive juices flowing there a little bit. And looking at the game, analyzing the game, a lot of things I enjoyed doing when I was coaching. So you guys had a lot to do with that, getting back into the coaching business.”

Wilkins will inherit a talented group of players. The Trojans lost four seniors, but seven juniors are expected to return and lead the team in 2020. Pleasantville finished 11-11 in Joel Allman’s final season.
