Friday’s announcement that schools would be closed for the remainder of the academic year brought many emotions to students, faculty and coaches. It also brought forth even more uncertainty when it comes to the possibility of having summer sports. PCM head baseball coach Jeff Lindsay says the best way for his players to cope with the uncertainty is to operate as if there will be a season, and stay in shape.
“Just try to encourage them to stay in good cardiovascular shape, keep exercising. And if possible, the more important part when it comes to the baseball aspect of it, something they can do and still keep social distancing is go out and play catch. Whether it’s with a sibling, a parent, or if they were able to get with someone else and just be able to keep their arm in shape and play catch semi-often.”
With the announcement from Governor Reynolds, spring sports are officially cancelled. The status of summer sports will continue to be evaluated, and an official decision will be made by June 1st.
