The City of Indianola has recently been awarded a $1 million grant through the State of Iowa Sponsor Project Program, which will go towards the Indianola Square Streetscape project. City Manager Ryan Waller tells KNIA News the program is funded by communities who take out low-interest loans from the state for projects, such as the Indianola Water Resource Recovery Facility, and Indianola received one of the highest awards in the state.

“The grant will help fund the brick paver portion of the design. Brick pavers help control stormwater and water quality of the design feature. We are really excited about this, this is something the council approved us applying for back in February. To get this, we have to apply to the state for the funds that are provided by interest payments on loans from the state.”
