indianola-3

Despite last year’s success of a Little Hawkeye Conference Championship and a trip to the substate final game against #1 Johnston, the Indianola baseball team wasn’t letting success change the way they prepared for this season. Head coach Casey Aldridge tells KNIA Sports despite a number of talented players returning, the approach to the season and the goals being set remain the same.

“We were preparing like we do every season. Our goal is to win the conference title, and put ourselves in a position to succeed in the postseason. We know that once we get to the postseason eventually you will hit one of the big schools, you are going to hit a Johnston, and Urbandale, a Dowling, and that’s our goal is to get past them to the state tournament. We did that last year, we had a fabulous year, but we wipe the slate clean. Our mindset is the same. Going for a Little Hawkeye Conference title like we did last year, and we have 12 seniors coming back this year, so our mentality hasn’t changed.”

The Indians went 24-15 last season.
