Pella Fiber had its biggest hurdles cleared, and soon, several details will be released about the municipal telecommunications utility. City Administrator Mike Nardini says the Pella City Council approved contracts to install fiber to every home and business in Pella and a facility to house the utility that will provide internet and video service to all in the corporate limits. Nardini says the telecom will closely work with the city’s electric utility, especially as smart meter technology is implemented sometime in the next few years. Nardini says additional details — including rates, services provided, will be formalized by the Pella City Council at the Tuesday, May 5th meeting, with more information about signing up and rollout of Pella Fiber coming in the next several weeks.
