One squad in the area that is hoping for a summer season is the Twin Cedars Softball Squad. The Sabers had a breakout season last summer going 29-9, winning the Bluegrass Conference and setting numerous records along the way. Coach Zack Dunkin tells KRLS Sports the concern is now that the girls work on their game at home during the school shut down and hope that they can reconvene if the state allows softball to have a season.

Dunkin:
“It’s really put a pause on anything in off-season softball work. I guess its a pause to an extent that the kids are working on it at home, and they shouldn’t assume that we’re not going to have a season, so they need to be throwing a ball, catching a ball doing that kind of thing at home if they have those things there.”

The Sabers were eyeing lofty goals this season with largely a young team made up of mostly freshmen and sophomores. The Sabers are scheduled to start the season June first with a home double header against Davis County. Twin Cedars as of now would miss the first five dates of the season.
