For the final time as a statewide effort, lights will be turned on at high school stadiums across the region and Iowa to recognize the loss of the 2020 spring and closures of school for the remainder of the academic year. The Iowa High School Athletic Directors Association invites high schools to light up for the final time at 8:20 this evening–or 20:20 military time, to honor the class of 2020. The lights will be on for 25 minutes — each representing a day of school missed due to COVID-19. All schools covered by KNIA/KRLS are expected to participate. Tune into 92.1 KRLS at 8:20 p.m. this evening to hear local fight songs, messages of support for seniors, and more to recognize the closures of school buildings and facilities in our communities.
