With a breakout season of 29 wins last year and a young group hungry for more, the Twin Cedars Softball Squad will, if the season is allowed to happen, challenge themselves with a tougher schedule this summer. The Sabers, along with playing every Bluegrass Conference team twice has ramped up their non-conference schedule this season. Coach Zack Dunkin tells KRLS Sports it is all trying to ready themselves for the postseason and what they hope is a deep run and a possible trip to Fort Dodge.
Dunkin:
“Trying to vary it up a little bit so we’re not playing the same teams 2-3 times a season, we do play all of the conference teams twice and we were running into our conference opponents in those weekend tournaments so we didn’t really think it was much fun playing those teams three times. Mixing the schedule up and getting new competition on their and Trent did a really good job of that.”
Some of the challenges the Sabers will be facing is a non-conference meet up with Davis County, also they will be playing Des Moines North, Albia, and heading to the Creston Invitational.
