With Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds loosening restrictions for businesses and public areas, getting outside and staying active is key to staying healthy and avoiding any long term effects of the stay-at-home recommendations. Dr. Ryan Smith with Capital Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine tells KNIA News for those who haven’t been able to go to the gym during the closing, doing simple things can help you stay healthy.
“Get outside and go on walks if it is a safe thing to do, obviously continue to social distance, but get out and go on walks, take advantage of the fact that the weather is turning and hopefully we don’t see anymore of that white stuff this spring. Like any other time, we are encouraging people to stay active, adhere to guidelines, but get out and about, go on runs, bike trails, and do it all in a safe way.”
