The Des Moines Metro Opera has announced the cancellation of their live performances and in-person events for its 2020 Festival Season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. According to a release from General and Artistic Director of the DMMO Michael Egel, the opera is saddened to not be able to bring the performances in person, but the organization has partnered with Iowa PBS to bring their recent performances of Billy Budd, Rusalka, and Bon Appetit among others online and on television.
