The Marion County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Tuesday. The board gave an update regarding the current status of the VA District in which they announced they are closing the grounds to the public due to safety concerns as well as impending construction. According to the supervisors a fence will also be installed around the property for county and construction use. 

The board held a public hearing regarding the proposed County Ordinance 2020-65 amending the Zoning Map from A-1; Agricultural to C-1; General Commercial for an electrical substation for the property at 480 240th Place in Pella. Following the public hearing, they approved the first reading of the proposed ordinance while waiving 2nd and 3rd reading as well as approved a Site Plan for the property. 

The board approved allocating $500,000 from the Capital Improvement Fund to be used for the Courthouse Elevator Project as well as held a discussion regarding the Marion County Employee Furlough Program. According to the county, as of Monday, seven full time and five part time county employees were furloughed to allow the employees to take advantage of current unemployment benefits while retaining their health insurance benefits with the county and helping to save the county money during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The board also held an annual evaluation for Marion County Engineer Tyler Christian.
